A portable stove/oven

With all her new cooking gear and felt food, my little “chef” has taken over the living room floor.

Can a frying pan box become part of the play processĀ as well as a storage solution?

YES!

Start of the transformation process

  1. Find a box that you don’t need anymore – preferably rectangular.
  2. Cut off the side flaps on one side and tape up the other side.
  3. Cover the box with some paper and tape around the edges.
  4. I used white paper and masking tape, but you can use whatever you have handy.

Putting on the finishing touches

  1. Cut out 2 foam circles. Card works as well. These will be the stove hobs.
  2. Use double-sided tape to secure the 2 circles to the box.
  3. Use tape or a marker pen to create a “line” to separate the hob area from the bench/preparation area.
  4. Stove and bench top in use.

Oven door

Cover the box flap with more white paper and use tape to secure the edges. Fold some foam/card to make a handle. Secure with double-sided tape and wire (Poke 2 holes on each side of the handle, pull the wire through and twist up tightly.

The oven in use

When all the playing is done for the day, put the box on its side and store the cookware etc in it.

Oh .. so THAT’s where that box went … ha ha
    Brilliant …

Sadly it’s often Mummy & Daddy doing the cleaning up… I think we need to learn little one some cleaning skills!
